Black History Month reflections: Interview Series

Posted in Community on February 27th, 2009

Always good to hear words from the interviews of two of the most prominent black figures in American History. Most history books will depict the two movements as rivals or opposites however I believe that what binded them together was far greater than what drove them apart..the mutual respect was there and had their lives continued through the 60’s, they probably would have ended collaborating much more often and seriously (especially after Malcolm’s return from his pilgrimage and subsequent withdrawal from the Nation).

Posted in Community, Fashion on February 8th, 2009

Fact: Esfac’e released “the Nu Face” collection early in the primaries, aligning with the movement for Positive change in our country and thus supporting the Obama campaign, a campaign that who embodied the movement to the fullest. Part of the proceeds from this collection, the most successful single collection or set of designs in Esface’s history, went to to Obama’s campaign every month during his journey to the White House. Esfac’e understands and embraces the notion that in most cases in this society.. “it take dollars to make change” and furthermore, we believe “if it doesn’t make change, it doesn’t make sense”…do the math. Stay Positive. Stay Fresh. Stay Esfac’e.

Fact: DJ Exile opened with LA artist BLU for the Wale concert on Jan 30th at the Mezzanine SF, Esfac’e (Dele and affiliates) was definitely in the building and was able to get some solid footage as seen. Not only does he produce for BLU, he also is producing for another up and coming central Cali artist, Fashawn, who also had a nice opening act before WALE stepped out and ripped it.

Exiles production skills are of the greatest I’ve ever seen in person…at least live on the MPC..you see the footage so let it speak for itself..cop his albums, on Itunes in Summer 09.

Macy’s West is Finito…the worst has yet to come for our economy

Posted in Community on February 3rd, 2009

Fact: sfgate.com today reported: “The Macy’s Inc. chain of department stores will cut 7,000 jobs nationwide, including 1,400 in San Francisco, where it will eliminate the Macy’s West division that now handles buying, planning and merchandising for 259 stores in California and nearby states.

The cuts, which amount to about 4 percent of Macy’s 180,000-person workforce, come as some retail chains have filed for bankruptcy and others have announced layoffs.

Employees at Macy’s West learned of the layoffs Monday morning when signs were posted at the entrance to their offices on Union Square directing them to assemble in the basement ballroom of the nearby Grand Hyatt Hotel.” CLICK HERE TO READ MORE

Based on all credible sources, the economy will be getting worse so I urge all of you currently employed individuals to appreciate your situation and remember those who may be in need of assistance in the near future…times are pretty bad for a lot of people, maybe not you but somebody in your row..Stay Positive. Stay Fresh. Stay Esfac’e
