Mr. “King of the Remix”…remixing ENYCE to make it a hit

FACT: Sean “P. Diddy” Combs has recently acquired the urban lifestyle brand Enyce from Liz Claiborne, Inc.

While specifics regarding the recent buy are unknown, it has been reported that the ultimate entrepreneur himself, Sean Combs, sealed the deal for a cool $20 mil.  That is what Enyce is currently valued at, which is a stark decrease from it’s worth only a mere five years ago, when Liz Claiborne Inc. bought the label for $114 million.

Amid the current trend in decreased consumer spending, many retailers have consolidated which is partly to blame for Enyce’s declining value.  Enyce’s sales, which hit $100 million at their peak, have shrunk to about half that amount.  A loss of appeal and attention to & from it’s target consumer base are part of the problem, as well.

In an interview, Mr. Combs said he plans to retool the brand, expand its distribution and take advantage of his connections in the entertainment industry to promote it.  With the “D, the I, the D, the D, the Y” behind the label, there’s no doubt Enyce will reach the swagger it once knew on the racks a few years back.

Take a look at Diddy personally breaking the news:

Obama Roasts McCain at Al Smith Dinner in NYC

Fact: (Reuters) -
Obama leads in all of the states won by Democrat John Kerry in 2004 as well as in several states won by Republican President George W. Bush, recent polls show.
Obama or McCain need 270 electoral votes to win the Electoral College and capture the White House in the November 4 election.
The president is determined not by the most votes nationally but by a majority of the Electoral College, which has 538 members allotted to all 50 states and the District of Columbia in proportion to their representation in Congress.

Fall Foot Fashion

As the Fall season has approached (my fav, especially for fashion!), old styles have re-emerged with new ones. Boots have always been in, but this season they are anything but basic. Over-the-knee boots have become a new fad if you are daring enough, while patent and snake-embossed leather mid-calf boots have emerged into the sexy, sleek trend. Designers have added fringe to their autumn colored boots of red, camel, yellow, and purple. To keep it modern dress the boots with slim fitting pants, a plain white T, and cardigan. Ankle Boots have also popped back into season and so have colorful tights and leggings. Ankle boots with the toe cut out are great for showing off of your bold leg wear. So have some fun this season and go find the style that works most for you!

No OBAMA gear at the polls

As reported by DCist.com: With less than a week left to register to vote in the general election for most area voters (the deadline in San Mateo County, California is Oct. 20), the DC Board of Elections of Ethics released a reminder yesterday that electioneering laws apply to enthusiastic voters as well as campaign volunteers. It might seem obvious to most of you, but apparently some voters are confused on the issue:

D.C. Municipal Regulations sections 708.4, 708.5 and 708.8 cover restrictions on “political activity” within 50 feet of the entrance of a building used for voting. Section 708.8 clearly states that “the term ‘political activity’ shall include without limitation, any activity intended to persuade a person to vote for or against any candidate or measure…”

This means that if a voter is showing an outward sign of support for a candidate (i.e. wearing hats, buttons, t-shirts, etc.) the voter will be asked to remove or cover the article before entering the polling place.
